Swim Clinics:

Our office provides professional private and group swim clinics. These clinics are designed to optimize performance, increase stroke efficiency and decrease shoulder injuries due to poor stroke mechanics.

  • Tri- AThletes
  • Lap swimmers
  • Beginners

All skill levels will benefit because the clinics are structured based on the participants skill level.

Meet the Coach:

Dr. Nik DelFavero is a 4 x High School All American Swimmer,Division 1 college athlete and international medal winner. He has been coaching and teaching swim lessons for over 10 years.

Swim Clinic Structure:

After a brief warm up, the swimmers will be asked to perform a baseline distance per stroke. This can be measured by counting the number of strokes it takes to swim 25 yds while being timed. These values are recorded and later compared to another series of distance per stroke values taken at the end of the clinic. This is a very effective method to objectify improvement and stroke efficiency.

Video stroke analysis is a key element in the clinics. It is a very effective tool used to identify poor stroke mechanics and also gives the athlete a chance to see what they are actually doing in the water. Many swimmers are suprised by the huge differences between what they think they are doing in the water and what they are actually doing as seen on the slow motion play back.

After the deficiencies in stroke mechanics have been identified via observation and video analysis, a series of simple progressive drills designed specifically to correct the corresponding stroke dysfunctions are performed.

Lastly, after mastering the drills, the swimmers are than asked to perform another distance per stroke to see how much improvement they have made compared to the beginning of the clinic. It is not uncommon to have significant drops in the amount of strokes it takes to swim 25 yards as well as large drops in the time it takes to complete the swim.
